RapidWeaver blog plugin

I’ve seen the blog page improve by leaps and bounds in my years of developing for RapidWeaver. It’s probably been one of the most actively developed page styles in the RapidWeaver arsenal.

From tagging, to categorizing, archiving and permalinks, RapidWeaver covers many of the basic needs of any would be blogger. And it’s all within the drag-n-drop comfort of our favorite web authoring app.

All of these posts are fake. Please do not take any of them as holding any more weight the kb they occupy on disk.

We can safely say that we wouldn't be as well known as we are if it weren't for blogging technology. It's a free platform to shout our latest news from. Before the days being able to afford professional press releases, our blog was our only means of staying connected to and reaching out to our global audience.

Today, our blog is still as vital as ever, delivering critical information, releases and updates to our readers around the globe.

10 fakies in one day

Wow! 10 fake posts in one day is about all this guy can handle. It’s time to go get some sleep, rest my aching feet (allergic reaction to mosquito’s, don’t ask).

I will takle some more fakies in the morning and hopefully wrap up this blog demo by mid afternoon... I hope.

The legend in the name

Those of you lucky enough to have been in the RapidWeaver community since 2005 might remember this story, but those of you who don’t remember the days of seyDoggys forming and how the name came to be.

In 2005, my then youngest daughter was just two years old and not always clear with her words. Every time we would go into her room she could hear the neighbors dark barking and proclaim, “It’s a doggy!” Which, as it turns out, would actually sound like, “Sey doggy!”

And a company name was born.

It's a boys club

Why is that? Why is the web design industry dominated by men? There are certainly a lot more women getting involved then there were years ago but as far as equality is concerned, I feel the web industry is far behind the curve.

Even today, we’ve found ways to objectify women and their role in the web with such characters as iJustine and Mostly Lisa (Go Canada), who in there own right have much more to do with the web then just being pretty faces but yet you see their faces guesting hosting on every show, not to talk about what they can really do but just to talk about how many followers they have on this social network or hot site... and why do they have so many followers? Because they are pretty faces in a sea of dorks and yet they are willing to accept our friend requests.

There are smart women out there doing smart things. Why aren’t they celebrated more?

Quicksilver is for me

Anyone who reads my blog, nutMac.com knows by know how much of a fan I am of Quicksilver, the brilliant, all powerful app that acts more as my brain’s subconscious than it does a a piece of software.

I employ quicksilver to do all sorts of things for me, from rescaling images and uploading them to flickr, to running AppleScripts, to finding anything on my system, to launching and relaunching app of every variety... I use quicksilver for 90% of the work I do.

My most desired feature in RapidWeaver?

I get asked this a lot. If you could have any one feature in RapidWeaver, what would it be? I used to have one long standing answer; dependencies in theme development. That was really what I felt RapidWeaver needed for the longest time because there are just some things that could not be overcome with adding more and more css sheets. Things like having sexy graphic layouts, with variable sidebar options, with background color options, with page color options... there is just no way without being able to make RapidWeaver understand if and then at the theme level.
